Faith & Discovery STEAM Academy follows the compulsory attendance requirements established by the State of Ohio.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that scholars attend school regularly and arrive on time each day.
Excused absences may include:
- Personal illness
- Medical or dental appointments
- Illness or death in the immediate family
- Religious observances
- Court appearances
- Other circumstances approved by the Principal
Documentation may be required for extended absences or frequent illnesses.
Every Instructional Hour Counts
Unlike many schools that focus only on days missed, Faith & Discovery STEAM Academy also tracks instructional hours.
Because every scholar follows an individualized learning pathway- Kingdom Success Pathway, instructional time is essential to student success.
Examples:
- Arriving 15 minutes late each day equals approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of lost instruction each week.
- Arriving 30 minutes late each day results in approximately 2½ hours of lost instruction each week.
- Missing one full school day equals approximately 6 hours of direct instruction.
- Missing five school days equals approximately 30 hours of instruction—the equivalent of nearly an entire week of learning.
Small amounts of missed time quickly accumulate and can significantly impact academic progress.
